TEENS IN THE NEWS
Monday, March 24, 2014 by Patti Shene

A 16-yr old from New Jersey allegedly gained access to the nation’s tallest building, the still under construction 1 World Trade Center in New York City last week. It is reported that he climbed through a hole in the fence at the construction site, took an elevator manned by an elevator operator, sneaked past an inattentive security guard, and gained access to the spire on top of the building.

The young man ignored “no trespassing” and “do not enter” signs to gain access to the premises. He has been arraigned on one count of criminal trespass in the third degree, which is a misdemeanor punishable by up to three months in jail, and one count of trespass, punishable by up to 15 days in jail.

In my opinion, the youth's motivation was to push the limits and see what he could get away with. He liked the excitement of breaking the rules and possibly proving that he was 'man enough' to do it. He never meant to sneak away-he wanted to be noticed.
